National Radon Awareness Month

    National Radon Awareness Month

The Ohio Department of Health is encouraging Ohioans to test their homes for the radon gas and take- action to reduce risks if elevated levels are found.

Radon is colorless and odorless and is naturally produced from uranium in rocks and soil. It can creep into your home through cracks or find was from openings in the foundation block.

The Ohio program gives free testing kits to people in Ohio who own a home with household incomes less than $80,000. Other Ohioans that do not meet this income level can order the kits for $10.95.

For general questions about radon’s health effects or to discuss radon testing, contact ODH radon education staff at 1-800-523-4439 or indoor.radon@odh.ohio.gov.”
